St. Joseph's Hospital lets ER patients make appointments online

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - You can now schedule a visit online to the emergency department at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The hospital has partnered with InQuicker, an online portal on the St. Joe’s website that allows emergency patients with non-life-threatening conditions to "check-in" to ensure hospital staff is prepared for them, and wait from home until their estimated treatment time.

“We’ll have access to their medical charts and also the testing that has been done at the urgent care so that we don’t' duplicate efforts and at the same time, will be able to provide a better continuum of care,” said Dr. Max Berube, the medical director of the emergency department.

InQuicker is not an appointment or reservation service, as the nature of emergency medicine doesn’t allow for the scheduling of treatment.

What InQuicker does is estimate treatment times based on available resources.

St. Joseph's has also launched its new faster program, which creates faster transitions for patients in its urgency care facilities who need to be transferred to the hospital emergency department
