Standoff in Sodus comes to an end

lasted through the night and ended early Thursday Morning

ROCHESTER, NY (WROC-TV) - A tense police situation that lasted through the night and into the early morning hours of Thursday came to a peaceful end in Sodus.

Wayne county sheriff's deputies arrived at Gardenier lane around 8:30 last night for a mental health call.

When they tried to take the male suspect into custody, the sheriff tells us that suspect attacked them, hitting one deputy in the face. We've been told that they suffered minor injuries as a result.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside a house and refused to leave.

Police closed access to the road as the situation played out. The suspect was eventually captured peacefully around 1:30 this morning. They have been hospitalized for a mental health evaluation - charges in connection to the attack on the officer are pending.
