UPDATE: State Police make arrest in suspected credit card theft

CLAY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - State Police have arrested a pair accused of stealing a woman's credit card out of her purse and spending hundreds of dollars.

On April 5, State Police arrested 26-year-old Charles Bennett of Sterling and 20-year-old, Devin Benson for their alleged involvement in the theft. 

State Police say Bennett took a woman's purser at a Town of Clay Wegmans. He allegedly made purchases on the card at the Brewerton Road Walmart half an hour later. 

The pair were charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, second-degree identity theft and fifth-degree conspiracy.

Bennett was also charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. 

Benson was released on an appearance ticket and Bennett was found to have several outstanding warrants and was sent to the Justice Center.
