State Police release details leading up to serious South Otselic crash

SOUTH OTSELIC, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - State Police have provided further details on a serious South Otselic crash that sent at least one person to the hospital.

On July 28 around 3:40 p.m., a 54-year-old woman from South Otselic was driving southbound when she drifted into the northbound lane, according to State Police.

She then struck a pickup truck that was driven by a 47-year-old man from Reading, Pennsylvania.

The woman’s vehicle came to a rest after it struck the east shoulder. The truck driver attempted to avoid being hit, but couldn’t. His truck continued in the northbound lane and hit a guiderail, overturning. 

He was airlifted to Upstate with several fractures to his left arm and left leg.

No tickets have been issued yet and the investigation is continuing.

State Police do not have an update on the condition of either driver.
