Staying Cold into the Weekend: John DiPasquale and Jim Teske's Forecast

Some Squalls Friday

SYRACUSE (WSYR) - - Brisk and chilly, with some snow showers possible late tonight.
- Temperatures will be in the teens tonight.
- Winds will ease, but it remains brisk tonight.
- Burst of snow possible Friday afternoon
- Turns even colder for Saturday.
- Temperatures moderate some Sunday, but more so early next week.

Winter is back:

Behind Wednesday night’s cold front winter made a big come back across central New York and winds were fierce late Wednesday night into the start of today, as gusts exceeded 50 and even 60 miles per hour.

It will be brisk, but not as windy tonight with temperatures dropping into the teens and the unseasonable chill will stick around through the start of the weekend.

End of the week chill:

Some snow showers will develop off the lake late tonight into Friday with mainly minor accumulations expected.  A disturbance may also produce a brief burst of snow close to or just after lunch time Friday, as a clipper system slides to the south of us.

Some more lake snow will follow the clipper system late Friday through early Saturday.

First weekend of March:

It is a split decision for the weekend.  High pressure will build in Saturday and provide us with mainly dry, but very cold, brisk weather to start the weekend. Saturday morning will be very cold, starting around 10 degrees!

Bundle up if you’re running/walking in the Shamrock Run. Highs will likely struggle to reach 20 Saturday, which is a good 15 degrees below average. Saturday will also be brisk with wind chills down around 0 throughout the day.

The chill will not last long though as a push of milder air will move in late Saturday night into Sunday and it now looks like we will probably stay dry through the end of the weekend.  It will also turn more seasonable Sunday and even milder to start next week.
