WSYR-TV - A Suffolk County man is accused of fighting with State Police and leading them on a car chase in Upstate New York while allegedly driving while ability impaired by drugs.
On March 8, State Police attempted to pull over a vehicle that was travelling 100 mph in a 65-mph speed zone on I-81 in the Town of Pameila, Jefferson County.
The vehicle’s operator, later identified as 57-year-old Stephen White, refused to pull over and continued north on I-81, speeding and slowing down multiple times and driving erratically across both northbound lanes of traffic.
The suspect vehicle then attempted to make a 90 degree turn to the left and spun out into the median.
Troopers say White then attempted to run away from the vehicle but re-entered his vehicle, locking himself inside.
He allegedly began to kick at arresting officers in attempt to get away.
White was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.
No injuries reported.
He has been charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, DWAI drugs, second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
