SUNY Oswego baseball team headed to College World Series

OSWEGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The SUNY Oswego baseball team is set for the program's first-ever trip to the Division III College World Series.

The team left Hancock Airport on Wednesday morning for Appleton, Wisconsin.

The team is excited for a chance at a national title after a long season.

“This year was really, really tough for these guys and to have this reward at the end of the year is a really good feeling for them, because we obviously set out to win a national championship and we have the ability to do that this week,” said Scott Landers, the head baseball coach.

13 players on the team are from high schools in Central New York.

The Lakers play their first game of the double-elimination tournament on Friday.
