SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - SUNY Oswego is adding more offerings to it’s Downtown Syracuse Metro Center.
The school will be offering the chance to finish three undergraduate degrees there.
On Tuesday evening December 6 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. SUNY Oswego and Onondaga Community College will partner to offer an information session on the new opportunity.
It will be free and open to the public and held at SUNY Oswego in Syracuse in the Atrium building in Clinton Square.
Local students, residents or working professionals seeking to complete an Oswego bachelor's degree in business administration, human development or public justice in downtown Syracuse are encouraged to attend.
Representatives from SUNY Oswego and O.C.C. will offer a presentation, overviews, a question and answer session, and tours of the SUNY Oswego Syracuse branch location.
Leea Sinay, 2012 O.C.C. grad, is thrilled to be able to take her associates degree here to SUNY Oswego in Syracuse this Spring to turn it into a bachelor’s degree.
"I decided that I wanted to go back to school and I decided on SUNY Oswego just because it was very reasonable, it’s such a great school." Sinay says.
Besides going to school Sinay has a job at National Grid and is an assistant lacrosse coach at O.C.C. where she won a National Championship and was named All-American.
Sinay tells NewsChannel 9, "I didn't know there were undergraduate classes here; I thought it was just grad school so I just was like I'm going to do it."
SUNY Oswego Dean for Extended Learning, Jill Pippin says, “It's the same high quality SUNY Oswego degree it’s just in a different format that is accessible to our non-traditional learners."
The undergrad programs at SUNY Oswego in Syracuse are offered as blended program with a mix of online and on-site evening classes to allow for flexibility of scheduling for students.
O.C.C. Spokesperson Amy Kremenek adds, "SUNY Oswego is one of the most popular colleges that O.C.C. students transfer to starting with 2 years with us full-time and then transferring on to SUNY Oswego."
O.C.C. has 8 programs with a 2 plus 2 agreement that allows students to transfer directly to Oswego after two years at Onondaga.
O.C.C. says the majority of its other credits are transferable to Oswego as well.
