Syracuse Police officer helps 2 men out of burning house

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A Syracuse Police officer ran into a smoke-filled residence after he heard screams coming from the top floor early Friday morning.

According to the police department, officer Scott Boles was the first person to respond on scene for a call regarding a residential fire that occurred in the 100 block of Stafford Avenue.

Boles saw heavy black smoke coming from the second floor windows of the residence, and heard screams coming from inside the home.

Officer Boles immediately entered the home and located two men on the second floor of the residence.

One of the men was having difficulty getting down the stairs.

Boles was able to get both men out of the home safely.

No one was injured in the incident and the Syracuse Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire does not appear suspicious at the time.
