SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - This weekend one Central New Yorker will be enjoying the ball drop from Pasadena, California as she waits to ride in the Rose Parade.
Angela Hadfield is one of 23 people selected to ride the "Donate Life" float in the state's annual parade.
Hadfield was born with a congenital defect called Chiari Malformation and had brain surgery with donated tissue to correct the condition.
“It cuts off the cerebral spinal fluid,” explained Hadfield. “Since I’ve had the surgery my life has drastically improved.”
Hadfield is excited to ride in the parade and even more excited to promote awareness about the need for tissue donations.
According to the Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation, just under two million people received tissue transplants in 2016.
