SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is alerting drivers in Central New York of a significant change in traffic patterns on the I-690 Teall-Beech reconstruction project.
Beginning Wednesday, July 5, at 10 p.m., the westbound I-690 off and on ramps at Teall Avenue (Exit 14) will be closed to traffic.
This will facilitate the westbound two lanes of I-690 traffic to be crossed over onto the eastbound direction later that night.
When the crossover is completed by July 6 at 6 a.m., two lanes of traffic in each direction will be operating in what is currently the eastbound roadway.
From July 6 at 10 p.m. to July 7 at 6 a.m., both directions of I-690 will be reduced to one lane with periodic short-term, full roadway closures, necessary to remove two large overhead sign structures.
This is a long term construction project and drivers should be aware that some streets, including Erie Blvd, Thompson Road, Midler Avenue and Burnet Avenue, will experience higher than usual traffic volumes.
