"That popping noise, that will never disappear," Canastota woman home from Las Vegas

Yvonne Nirelli one of thousands who attended deadly music festival

Canastota, NY (WSYR-TV) - Yvonne Nirelli is back in Central New York for the first time since the Las Vegas Shooting. She says the sounds of the gun shots and the images of that night will forever be stuck in her memory.

"You hear about these scary things, but they never happen to us. Well, I guess that's different now," said Nirelli.

Nirelli was attending the music festival with her sister, and two friends; they were celebrating two 50th birthdays.

"I'm the one who bought the tickets for the festival, so it's really difficult. The other day, when it was one week, it was really difficult for me to think, I was the one who bought the tickets and it was my surprise," said Nirelli.

She says while she appreciates and is grateful for friends and family asking about her experience, she says it's difficult to tell the story over and over again.

But while she says it's difficult to relive that terrifying night, she says she has to remember that she is one of the lucky ones.

"I think that's the biggest thing, to appreciate life because we're here and we have to represent the 58, if not more to come, that aren't here," said Nirelli.
