Tony Stewart appears in Syracuse court for settlement hearing

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - NASCAR legend Tony Stewart and the parents of Kevin Ward Jr. were in Syracuse Federal Court on Friday for a scheduled conference over the Ward family's wrongful death lawsuit.

It is unclear if an agreement was reached.

Ward's parents say Stewart was reckless and intentionally hit the gas in an attempt to intimidate their son before the 20-year-old was struck and killed at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park nearly three years ago.

Stewart says he did not see Ward on the track and is trying to have the case dismissed.

Stewart was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
