CENTRAL SQUARE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - A local tree service contractor accused of taking money for a job he never completed has been arrested, according to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.
In May, NewsChannel 9’s Your Stories team received multiple complaints from viewers about Holbrook’s Tree Service.
Mark Somers says he contacted Holbrook to trim down a tree on his property.
Somers says he was given a signed receipt from Mark Holbrook with Holbrook's Tree Service in Oswego County - and his $600 down payment was quickly cashed.
"When you could get him to return calls, he was all nice and apologetic and said he'd be out the next day or the next couple of days," Somers said in May. "There was just no show."
Holbrook, 44, was charged with petit larceny on Sunday.
His arrest stems from the allegations that he took $600 of Somers’ money and never performed the promised service and never returned Somers's money, according to Oswego County Undersheriff Gene Sullivan.
