Upstate NY Tattoo Convention draws crowd from around the world to Syracuse

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - The Upstate New York Tattoo Convention, now in its second year in downtown Syracuse, drew thousands to Central New York from around the world.

Tattoo enthusiasts from as far as Taiwan gathered at the OnCenter to show off their ink and new designs.

"Every single tattoo has a story behind it," Carmelo Silva, a Syracuse-based tattoo artist who organized the show said. "We want to show everyone what Syracuse is all about."

Admission to the event ran between $19 for a one-day pass and $39 for the whole weekend.

The convention aimed to cater to a family-friendly audience with sideshows that included face painting, sword swallowing and human suspension acts for kids.
