Utica Police: 14-year-old in critical condition may have been accidentally shot

UTICA (WSYR-TV) - A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition at a Syracuse hospital after police say she was shot late Saturday night in Utica.

Officers found the girl when they arrived at the 1400 block of Seymour Avenue around 9:50 p.m.

Police say there is evidence suggesting the shooting may have been accidental, but the Major Crimes Unit is handling the investigation.

Members of the fire department initially treated the girl and took her to a hospital in Utica, before she was eventually sent to Upstate University Hospital.
