Verizon building in Downtown Syracuse being lowered by 60 feet

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Nearly 60 feet are going to be removed from the top of the Verizon building in Downtown Syracuse.

The company tells NewsChannel 9 that they are lowering the building from 237 feet to 179 feet by making renovations and removing the microwave emitters and lights on top.

The Federal Aviation Administration requires buildings over 200 feet to have aircraft warning lights on them.
