Victim in Penn Yan sexual assault investigation speaks out

PENN YAN, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - Penn Yan Police have reported that they are investigating a sexual assault at a bar in Penn Yan.

Police are saying Bob Champlin, owner of Lloyd's Limited Pub, is a person of interest in the case, but that he has not been formally charged with anything.

They say the video they are reviewing is very graphic and appears to show Brianna Champlin, his cousin, unconscious and being sexually assaulted on top of the bar by a man. It was all recorded through a Snapchat.

Brianna sat down with News 8 and tells us she saw it for the first time the next morning on social media.

She says she watched the video and after a few seconds, she turned it off, horrified by what she saw.

"I just don't understand a lot from that night," said Brianna. "I don't understand why he thought that was okay, I don't understand why she videotaped and it didn't stop it or wake me up or something."

"We have since then followed up and interviewed witnesses to the incident and yesterday we executed a search warrant at Lloyd's and seized surveillance video from the store," said Thomas Dunham, Chief of Police.

Brianna says she has pressed charges against Bob and the woman who took that Snapchat video.

Police say they have not ruled out the possibility of charges being pressed against the woman who took the Snapchat.

We reached out to Bob but have not heard back. Police say they are currently reviewing the surveillance video they seized from the bar.
