Village of Whitesboro changes seal mocked on 'the Daily Show'

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - The Village of Whitesboro has changed its official seal following debate over possibly offensive branding.

Comedy Central’s Daily Show highlighted the controversial seal in a skit, which to some shows the villages’ white founder choking a Native American.

Village officials say the new seal corrects inaccuracies with the previous design.

The new design still features village founder Hugh White with a more fair wrestling match between an Oneida.
