ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - A lawsuit filed by two former Wegmans employees is accusing the company of violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
The lawsuit claims the company failed to give proper notification to job applicants and employees who became the subjects of consumer background reports.
The complaint also says that Wegmans’ online authorization for a background check fails to make clear that they would obtain consumer reports.
Wegmans released a statement Monday saying "we are confident that our process for screening job applicants, including the disclosure that a background check will be conducted, fully complies with federal law."
One complainant in the suit is from Rochester, and the other is from Ithaca.
