What vacation? North Syracuse teachers spend their summer learning

NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - School may be out for summer break, but many teachers in the North Syracuse Central School District are still in the classroom.

In a role reversal, they’re now the ones doing the learning.

"Teachers are on vacation? Yeah, we're not on vacation!” said Becca Brigham, a North Syracuse CSD teacher.

They’re already planning for the next school year, working on ways to make their classroom more of a community.

"So getting to know your students, getting them to know each other. Really talking and working with each other. it's not really about the content. It's talking and working with your students to see what they need,” Brigham said.

“We want our students to trust us. We want to trust them. We want to have fun. So we came as a team so we can all learn and grow together,” said teacher Brittany Okon.
