Wiener dogs wanted for annual races at Batavia Downs

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WROC-TV) - Batavia Downs says there is a shortage of wiener dog entrants into this month's Wiener Dog races.

All entered dogs receive a Doggie Gift Bag courtesy of Genesee Feeds. The owners of all entered dogs receive gaming Free Play, and the top 3 in the championship race, receive clubhouse buffet certificates and additional Free Play for the gaming floor.

The race winner’s total prize package, including the gaming free play, is valued at $200. 

The annual races are held in conjunction with their Family Fun Day at the track on Sunday, Aug. 27.

Dachshund owners wishing to participate can call Batavia Downs’ Wiener Dog race coordinator Arna Tygart at 585-343-3750 ext 6437 and leave a message. 

The races are capped at 80 dogs.
