Your Stories: Drivers turned away at shredding event

Other options to shred your documents

SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - A document shredding event Saturday at NBT Bank Stadium overwhelmed organizers as over 2,400 cars showed up to drop off their confidential documents for shredding.
The event aims to help families protect against identity theft.

This year was the 13th year that OCRRA held the event, but organizers said they've never had such a large turnout.

Viewers tell us they had to wait over an hour, just to be turned away when organizers decided to end the event 45 minutes early. Wait times in past years usually were 5-20 minutes.

If you missed the event, or got turned away after waiting, there are other options for you to shred those confidential documents.

On June 3, ProShred will be hosting their annual Shred Cancer event at Chamions Fitness Center in Cicero. It will run from 8 to 12 p.m.

You can also head to OCRRA's website, to find out how you can get rid of confidential documents safely at local companies.
