When is Aldi coming to Fulton? Your Stories

FULTON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - Families in Fulton may finally see Aldi come to life this summer, according to Mayor Ronald Woodward.

Woodward says no construction has begun because they’re still removing the debris from the former Nestle plant.

A lot of asbestos in the old factory delayed the demolition process.

The closing for the property, which will take up two of the 24 acres, is scheduled for March 31.

“After the close that site is clear for them to go on and build the store,” said Woodward. “Once they get the footers in that store will open in a couple of months.”

Woodward says the store aims to open by summer, adding that two more businesses plan on following suit -- one of which plans to take up 10-acres.

As for what the businesses are, Mayor Woodward says the companies aren't ready to go public.
