Corning (WSYR-TV/WETM-TV) – More than a dozen people are suing a Southern Tier hospital after being notified that a nurse may have re-used syringes in 2012 and 2013.

WETM-TV in Elmira reports that 14 patients are suing Corning Hospital, along with its parent company Guthrie.

The nurse is also named in the lawsuit, but her identity hasn’t been made public.

According to the hospital, the incident occurred between Oct. 15, 2012 and Jan. 29, 2013.

A spokesman for the hospital told WETM-TV that the risk of someone becoming infected is low.

An attorney from the Ziff Law Firm, which is representing the patients, says the lawsuit could grow.

The hospital said it sent warning letters to 236 patients regarding the incident.
