Alzheimer’s walk raises $133,000

More than one-thousand people walked to help in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease on Saturday.
LIVERPOOL, NY (WSYR-TV) - More than one-thousand people walked to help in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease on Saturday.

The Alzheimer’s Association held its annual “Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease” at Long Branch Park in Liverpool.

It even surpassed its fundraising goal, bringing in $133,000 for services and research.

Caregivers of those with Alzheimer’s told NewsChannel 9 that the disease affects more people than we realize and can take a toll on entire families.

"My mom was diagnosed when she was only 65, so, what it’s done is left my father alone. So it’s the people that care for them that I think suffer the most,” said Maggie Vadala.
