Auburn teenage bicyclist in serious condition after being struck by car

An Auburn teenage bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a car around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – An Auburn teenage bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a car around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Auburn Police Department reports that the incident happened at Grant Avenue and Brookside Drive in the City of Auburn when 15-year-old Anthony Vivenzio, of Auburn, collided with a 1994 Oldsmobile sedan.

A witness reported that the vehicle was travelling southwest on Grant Avenue and entered the intersection of Brookside Drive with a green traffic signal when Vivenzio attempted to cross Grant Avenue against a red traffic signal and was struck by the vehicle.

Vivenzio suffered a serious head injury and was not wearing a helmet.

He was airlifted to Upstate Hospital where he is currently listed in serious condition.

No tickets have been issued and police say the investigation is being furthered by an accident reconstruction team.
