LIVERPOOL (WSYR-TV) - A benefit for the Upstate Cancer Center was held on Saturday in Liverpool.
The event was organized by friends and family of 31-year-old Jeanelle Cross, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2012. Cross was a special education teacher in the North Syracuse School District.
Money raised at the fundraiser benefits the Upstate Cancer Center, to help provide support services for young women diagnosed with breast cancer.
It will also help fund an expansion of the Regional Oncology Center, which the family hopes will include a room in Cross’ name, to keep her memory alive.
"It will always be, alive in our minds and her friends, but we want to have something tangible that the rest of the world can see, that this person exist, and that she did touch people while she was alive and she continues to touch people’s lives in her passing,” said Cross’ father Rick Crowell.
