New York (ABC/WSYR-TV) -- Former SU basketball player and Knicks star Carmelo Anthony tried his hand at acting - in a waxwork museum. The basketball player, clearly having time to spare Thursday afternoon, positioned himself in a throwing pose among the exhibits at Madam Tussaud's in New York and tried to stay completely still.

When visitors stopped to admire the realistic attributes of the wax statue, Anthony would spring into life, leaving them gasping and giggling with shock.

“I do some acting, but that was probably one of the toughest acting jobs to do, because it's right on the spot,” he said during the video of the joke posted on YouTube. “You've got people coming up close to you, wanting to touch you, and you just scare them.”

Coming out of his frozen pose, Anthony is seen holding out his hand to fans and saying, “How you doing?”

Clutching a ball, he shouts, “Hey,” at a passing couple, who dissolve into hysterical laughter.

The one-minute long clip has now been viewed by more than 50,000 people on YouTube, who enjoyed seeing their hero show off his sense of humor. The video was filmed on Thursday when a waxwork of the talented player was unveiled at the museum.

Brooklyn-born Anthony said the honor was “at the top of my list.” He added, “This is the number one thing. I never imagined representing New York like this.”
