North Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Families of children diagnosed with cancer often endure years of emotional and financial strain.
Stories of struggle inspired The Jonathan Cancer Fund to organize Clams for Cancer, a fundraiser to help patients under the age of 18 who are being treated in Onondaga County.
On Saturday, Spinning Wheel Restaurant in North Syracuse hosted the event, serving steamed and raw clams and desserts in the name of charity.
Organizers promised special guest appearances by basketball favorites Billy Owens and Lawrence Moten.
