Cops: Ithaca woman is 1 of 3 charged in North Carolina murder

An Ithaca woman is one of three people charged with murder in connection to human remains that were found in North Carolina’s Pitt County over the weekend.
Pitt County (WSYR-TV) – An Ithaca woman is one of three people charged with murder in connection to human remains that were found in North Carolina’s Pitt County over the weekend.

Medical examiners are still trying to identify the victim, but they believe the victim has connections to New York state, according to ABC affiliate WCTI12 in Greenville, NC.

29-year-old Nakijah Latifa Howard of Ithaca has been charged with first degree murder, along with two brothers – 60-year-old Lester Gordon Drake and 53-year-old Harold James Drake.

The brothers are also connected to Central New York according to the station, having lived in Auburn and Newfield.

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office says the three suspects were trying to rob the victim, whose body was found on a farm on Sunday.

Investigators say all three have extensive criminal records, including numerous felonies.
