Cops: Man was high on bath salts when he attacked hospital security officer

A Herkimer man was arrested on charges that he attacked a hospital security officer with medical equipment while high on bath salts.
New Hartford (WSYR-TV) – A Herkimer man was arrested on charges that he attacked a hospital security officer with medical equipment while high on bath salts.

According to New Hartford Police, Brian Brewczynski, 26, of Herkimer, was at the emergency center at St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment last week when he attacked the security officer.

The officer suffered injuries to his face and neck that required medical treatment by emergency staff.

Brewczynski was charged with one count of assault in the second degree, a felony, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.

He was arrested on May 29 after a warrant was issued. He was arraigned in Town of New Hartford Court and taken to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or bond. He is scheduled to return to court at a later date.
