Trenton (WSYR-TV) – One person is dead after two vehicles collided head-on in the town of Trenton in Oneida County on Monday morning.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Joan Hamlin, 75, was killed in the crash, which occurred on Route 365 between Mappa Avenue in the village of Barneveld and Mapledale Road.

The Sheriff’s Office believes that slush and ice caused the driver, 78-year-old Nancy Herrick, to lose control of her car before it crashed into a vehicle driven by David Eaton, 60, of Herkimer County.

Both Herrick and Hamlin were trapped in the vehicle and had to be pulled out.

Herrick was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and then transported to Upstate University Hosptial with multiple injuries.
