Cornell says heavy drinking incident led school to revoking fraternity's recognition

Cornell University has revoked its recognition of a fraternity saying it was involved in an alcohol-related incident in which the members declined to call for an ambulance that someone needed and then obstructed the police when they tried to intervene.
Ithaca (WSYR-TV) - Cornell University has revoked its recognition of a fraternity saying it was involved in an alcohol-related incident in which the members declined to call for an ambulance that someone needed and then obstructed the police when they tried to intervene.

According to Cornell Univeristy, the late-August incident involving Delta Kappa Epsilon also included underage drinking.

The school said the fraternity was placed on probation for a similar incident in November 2012 and has a history of similar infractions.

The fraternity will be allowed to appeal the decision within 48 hours.

Without recognition from the school, the fraternity is forbidden from recruiting new members.
