Cuomo can appeal FEMA decision on relief for individuals

After Central New York was ravaged by sweeping floods, there still is some hope for flood victims to receive federal individual aid even though FEMA denied the request.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – After Central New York was ravaged by sweeping floods, there still is some hope for flood victims to receive federal individual aid even though FEMA denied the request.

Governor Andrew Cuomo could appeal the FEMA decision to not provide individual assistance to homeowners whose properties were damaged or destroyed.

The state has already approved $16 million in aid for individuals that will be spread out among 5 of the areas hit the hardest:
  • Herkimer and Montgomery counties will receive $4 million each.
  • Madison and Oneida counties will receive $3 million each.
  • Niagara County will receive $2 million.
New York legislators like Senator Chuck Schumer have announced if Cuomo decides to appeal, they will support his decision.
