Cuomo increases security across the state

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- In the aftermath of the bombings at the Boston Marathon, Governor Andrew Cuomo says New York State will increase its police presence.

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, the governor says he’ll put on “additional, significant police resources,” especially until the circumstances around what happened in Boston are known.

Cuomo called the bombings a reminder to the state to keep vigilant.

"The reminder was not lost on us here in New York. We have increased our police presence and our supervision. New York City certainly, but also across the state at areas of significance, 9/11 Memorial, etc. the Port Authority and MTA,” Governor Cuomo said.

Cuomo says if there’s anything New York can do to help the city of Boston – it will.
