Customers distraught over ‘Fat Girls’ bill

A California restaurant owner has apologized after three customers received a receipt indicating that an employee had labeled them “Fat Girls.”
Stockton, Calif. (ABC News/WSYR-TV) – A California restaurant owner has apologized after three customers received a receipt indicating that an employee had labeled them “Fat Girls.” The three friends were dining at Chilly D’s in Stockton when they received the bill. The eatery is part of the Cameo Casino Restaurant.

“I got the bill, I was looking at bill [and] I was like, ‘Why does this receipt say ‘fat girls?’” customer Christine Duran said.

According to ABCNews.com, a bartender had typed the words “Fat Girls” to track their order.

When Duran asked a manager for an explanation, he “had like a smirk on his face, like it was funny but trying not to laugh,” she said.

In addition, the staff did not initially offer to pay for their bill, but instead offered a discount.

In a Facebook message overnight, Maggie Lewis, the Cameo Club Casino owner, apologized and said the insulting treatment Duran and her friends had received is “intolerable in our establishment,” according to ABC.

CNN claims the employee was fired after the incident.
