Fulton woman arrested on welfare fraud charges

A Fulton woman is facing multiple felony charges after being accused of defrauding state agencies out of public money.
Fulton (WSYR-TV) – A Fulton woman is facing multiple felony charges after being accused of defrauding state agencies out of public money.

Ella Bonnell, 40, of Buffalo Street, has been charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony, welfare fraud in the third degree, a felony, and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing, a felony.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Bonnell received assistance in the form of Medicaid, Food Stamps, and HEAP while failing to report her available income.

They say she bilked the public out of more than $5,000.

She was arraigned in Town of Scriba Court and taken to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond.

She is scheduled to appear in Town of Mexico Court on Oct. 29.
