Governor’s office activates flood helpline

The Governor’s office activated the NYS Flood Helpline on Tuesday for Central New York regions inundated with flooding as a result of heavy rains.
Albany (WSYR-TV) – The Governor’s office activated the NYS Flood Helpline on Tuesday for Central New York regions inundated with flooding as a result of heavy rains.

New Yorkers can call the helpline for a number of forms of assistance, including:

  • Local contact information for the Red Cross and Salvation Army
  • Health and safety tips
  • Where to go to receive a tetanus shot
  • What to do in case of an oil spill or power outage
  • Mental health assistance

The number is 1-888-769-7243.

Herkimer, Cortland, Oneida, and Madison counties were among the hardest hit by recent flooding.

The Governor's office indicated that life-threatening incidents should only be reported to 911.
