Halloween apps designed for kids safety

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Halloween night is just a couple of days away and kids have a lot to be excited about, but parents want to make certain they’re safe.

A number of free smarthphone apps are now available that are designed to help keep kids out of harm’s way.

GPS-based apps like “Life 360” keep tabs on the whole family if kids go their separate ways around the neighborhood. Families can share their real-time location information and send messages – like when it’s time to come home.

The free “FBI Child ID” app enables parents to create digital profiles for children so that information like height, weigh, and photos can be at hand and given to police if a child disappears.

If youngsters aren’t quite ready to trick-or-treat, parents can help them have fun at home with the “Pumpkin Masters Official Carving App” for the iPad. The app lets the child participate in digital pumpkin creations without knives, candles, or mess.

More suggested apps are available on the hlntv.com website.
