Hazmat team called after officers exposed to unknown chemical in Utica search warrant

A hazardous materials team was called to a home in Utica on Monday after police say officers were exposed to an unknown chemical.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A hazardous materials team was called to a home in Utica on Monday after police say officers were exposed to an unknown chemical.

Utica Police say the US Marshals Task Force was executing a warrant on Elm Street along with sheriff’s deputies and state troopers when they were all exposed to an unknown chemical.

The officers are described as experiencing shortness of breath.

A Hazmat team was brought in to decontaminate the five officers.

One person is in custody but there is still no word on what they are being charged with.
