Hundreds take Polar Plunge into Oneida Lake

Brewerton (WSYR-TV) - Hundreds took an icy plunge into Oneida Lake for a good cause today.

The 7th annual Oneida Shores Polar Plunge was held today at noon. 

Special Olympic athletes will joined law enforcement officers in carrying the "Flame of Hope" to Oneida Shores, before jumping into the lake.

"This is silly and chilly-FUN for all ages and something our athletes look forward to every year." said Cassandra Rucker, Director of Development- Special Olympics New York.

The event raises money for the Special Olympics.

This year's event raised a total of $105,000. Last year $87,000 was raised.
