Iconic film poster designer to be honored at the Landmark Theatre

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The designer of some of Hollywood’s most memorable movie posters will be honored at the Landmark Theatre during the opening night of the Syracuse International Film Festival in Downtown Syracuse tonight.

Silvano Campeggi, who is now in his 90s, designed posters for more than 50 Oscar winning films, including “Casablanca,” “Gone with the Wind,” “Ben Hur,” and “An American in Paris.”

Many of his posters are currently on display at the Landmark.

The festival’s opening event is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Guests throughout the week will include Bishop Grimes graduate Bobcat Goldthwait and director Joel Schumacher.
