Ithaca cop shooter sentenced to 25 years in prison

An Ithaca man who shot a police officer in October 2012 was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Friday.
Ithaca (WSYR-TV) – An Ithaca man who shot a police officer in October 2012 was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Friday.

23-year-old Jamel Booker was convicted on a number of charges in April, except for the most serious charge, attempted murder.

He was convicted on charges including assault in the first degree, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree criminal use of a firearm.

In October, Booker shot Ithaca Police Officer Anthony Augustine during a foot chase that followed an investigation into a stolen vehicle.

Augustine suffered a stroke as a result of the shooting.
