The Auburn man who murdered Katie Socci was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison on Tuesday.
Auburn (WSYR-TV) – The Auburn man who murdered Katie Socci was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison on Tuesday.

In February, David McNamara pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree for killing his ex-girlfriend while their child slept in the same house.

He was already serving a two-year sentence on a drug conviction.

He could have been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison had the case gone to trial.

Police found Socci’s body in a wooded area after a daylong search on June 15, 2011.

That morning, they responded to her home based on a neighbor's report and found her infant child asleep.

On June 16, they identified McNamara as a person of interest in their investigation, but declined to call him a suspect when they arrested him on drug charges.

In September, he admitted that he forged a prescription and sold drugs.
