Katie Socci's parents react to McNamara guilty plea

Katie Socci’s parents talked to NewsChannel 9 on Sunday night after David McNamara admitted to killing their daughter in 2011.
AUBURN, NY (WSYR-TV) - Katie Socci’s parents talked to NewsChannel 9 on Sunday night after David McNamara admitted to killing their daughter in 2011.

"Not a doubt in our mind who did it. We knew from day one he was responsible,” said Katie’s mother Tina Socci.

Last Thursday, McNamara unexpectedly admitted to strangling and killing Katie Socci, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child

Tina and John Socci said they prayed for a plea deal.

"My underlying fear through the whole thing was I didn't want my family to have to endure a trial,” said Katie’s father John Socci.

Katie's murder and a lengthy criminal investigation took a major toll on the Socci’s, whose lives have been forever altered.

"I have never wished pain or suffering on anybody and I wish that on him. And then, sometimes I feel sorry for him, you know. So, I hate the fact that he's changed me,” said Tina Socci.

Tina and John will have one last chance to speak to McNamara at his sentencing in April.

"I want to convey to him the amount of pain that he has caused to so many and how he did it to probably the most undeserving person in the world,” said John Socci.

McNamara is scheduled to be sentenced on April 23rd to 20-years-to-life in prison for Katie Socci's murder.  He will serve that time on top of the two years left on an unrelated drug charge.
