Local contractors helping boy with cancer

Some local contractors are making a dream come true for a 7-year-old boy who was told by doctors that he has little time left to live.
HANNIBAL, NY (WSYR-TV) - Some local contractors are making a dream come true for a 7-year-old boy who was told by doctors that he has little time left to live.

Last year, Julian Ross was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a cancer in his nerve tissue. Six months ago, Julian’s parents learned that the cancer was taking over his body and that Julian was not responding to chemotherapy.

Since then, communities across the state have come together to help Julian Ross live the rest of his life to the fullest.

If Julian could have anything in the world, he said it would be a two-story house with extra bedrooms, so he can spend more time with his big brother.

“I want my brother to move back in,” said Julian.

Last year, Julian's teenage brother moved in with his grandparents, to give his two younger brothers their own room in the family’s single story house in Hannibal.

Over the last few months, volunteer contractors have dedicated their weekends to renovating Julian's home, to make his wish come true.

“I have six kids of my own and if something happened to one of them I just hope that somebody would step up and lend a hand,” said contractor Bruce Maynes.

“The way we see it, Julian is only 7 years old and he's just been dealt a really difficult hand and we're trying to make all his dreams come true,” said contractor Tony Giacona.

Julian is now in remission.
