Man convicted of assaulting police officer now facing charges for assaulting corrections officer

The man convicted of assaulting an Ithaca Police officer back in October is now charged with assaulting a corrections officer.
Ithaca (WSYR-TV) -- The man convicted of assaulting an Ithaca Police officer back in October is now charged with assaulting a corrections officer.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office has charged 23-year-old Jamel Booker with second degree assault following an altercation in the county jail. The officer was injured, but there’s been no information released concerning the extent of his injuries.

Last week, Booker was convicted of several charges, including assault following the shooting of an Ithaca Police Officer. A jury failed to reach a verdict on the charge of attempted murder.

Booker is being held on $10,000 cash bond.
