Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A man who was granted a retrial after being sent to prison for sexually assaulting an elderly Syracuse woman is going back behind bars.

Vincent Torres was sentenced to 77 years in prision Friday morning. Last month, he was found guilty in a retrial.

The individual charges and sentences are:
  • Sodomy, 1st Degree: 25 years with 5 years post release supervision
  • Attempted Sodomy, 1st Degree: 15 years with 5 years post release supervision
  • Burglary, 2nd Degree: 15 years with 5 years post release supervision
  • Sexual Abuse, 1st Degree: 7 years with 3 years post release supervision
  • Attempted Sodomy, 1st Degree (second charge): 15 years with 5 years post release supervision
In 2011, Torres was sentenced to 97 years in prison after he was convicted on charges including burglary, one count of attempted sodomy, two counts of sodomy, and one count of sexual abuse.

He was re-tried on the same charges, and once again the jury returned with guilty verdicts on each.

In July 2012, he was granted a retrial on a technicality - his wife was not able to sit in during jury selection because the courtroom was too crowded.

His victim, who was 85 when Torres was granted a retrial, talked to NewsChannel 9 on the phone after hearing the news:

"This guy raped me, he sodomized me, he choked me, why should he get another trial when he was found guilty in the first one?" she said.

His victim - now 86 - once again testified in the case.
