Utica (WSYR-TV) – A nurse in the Rome area is facing felony charges after she allegedly stole drugs from nursing home residents.

According to New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office, Erin Marra, a 30-year-old licensed practicing nurse, stole medication while working at three different nursing homes in Rome.

They say Marra stole the drugs and then altered medical records to indicate that the residents had received their medication.

She was charged with:
  • Falsifying business records
  • Petit larceny
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person
  • Willful violation of health laws
According to the Attorney General’s office, Marra was taking the drugs herself.

She worked at Bethany Gardens Skilled Living Center, Betsy Ross Rehabilitation Center, and Colonial Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center when the alleged crimes occurred.

According to Schneiderman's office, the case is part of a larger campaign to crack down on prescription drug abuse across New York State.
